About Me

I’m a member of the Snowflake Field CTO team working with clients and partners on a broad range of topics including enterprise data architecture, data mesh, data warehousing, data lakes, data sharing & collaboration, and data applications. (2021-present)

Previously I was the IBM Technical Sales Leader for Data Management in EMEA, responsible for Db2, Netezza, IBM Cloud Pak for Data, Data Science, and Big Data. (2015-2021)

From 2000 to 2015 I was at the IBM Silicon Valley Lab in San Jose, California, focusing on database software development, architecture, and performance. My work included areas such as temporal data management and time travel in Db2, column-organized data, cloud data warehousing, XML, and other topics. During that time I also worked closely with customers world wide to help them design, optimize, and implement data management solutions.

From 1995 to 1999 I worked at the Technical University of Aachen (Informatik V) in Germany to research distributed and replicated database performance.

From 1992 to 1999 I supported several Hospitals in Tanzania during their introduction of computer systems to improve hospital administration. This was remote and local work, spending 21 months in remote areas of Tanzania.
